WorkTop lets you create multiple Windows desktops, each with its own files and iWorkTop gives Windows actual multiple desktops, each with its own files, layout, and wallpaper. Switch via hotkey, tray icon, or right-click. Unlike Windows' "virtual desktops" (which only swap windows), WorkTop swaps the actual files on your desktop.
I made WorkTop because my desktop always ends up accumulating more and more files, and Windows' virtual desktops (which they confusingly call "multiple desktops") don't actually solve that; they switch windows but everything on your desktop is still the same pile.
WorkTop gives you real, separate desktop surfaces. Different files on each, different wallpaper, different layouts. I keep one for my hobby coding, one for work, one for D&D notes, and one clean "personal" one just for something that looks nice. Switch with a simple hotkey, just like using alt+tab.
Who it's for:
Anyone whose desktop is overflowing with icons and files and has tried-and-failed to adhere to the conventional wisdom of folder-based organization. People who prefer spatial organization to hierarchical organization. Or anyone who wants to context-switch between modes (work / gaming / writing) quickly.
Pricing:
- Free: 3 desktops, all the core features
- Pro: $14.99 one-time. Unlimited desktops, scheduled switching, per-desktop wallpapers. 3 device activations.
Its a small tool made by a single dev, Windows only for now. Built in Rust + Svelte (Tauri). It's stable, but I'm still actively shaping it around how people actually use it. I'm happy to answer questions about how it works under the hood for those interested.

Who hunted WorkTop?
WorkTop was hunted by Jacob Nobrant. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
