watchLess
Search inside any YouTube video by asking a question
Hi PH! I'm Amir, solo dev behind watchLess.
I kept running into the same problem watching long YouTube videos. I would want to find the specific moment where someone said something, and the only option was scrubbing through the timeline. YouTube does not search transcript content.
watchLess is a Chrome extension that stays on the YouTube page. There is a search bar directly on the player. Type a question, get the exact answer with a timestamp, click it and the video jumps there.
What it does:
- Natural language search inside any video while you are watching
- AI summaries with key points, action items, and timestamps
- Sidebar lives on the YouTube page, no tab switching
You can try out the search and summary features for as a guest without signing up! Free tier is 3 summaries and 5 searches per day. Pro is $10/month for unlimited.
Just launched on the Chrome Web Store. Would genuinely love to know: does searching while mid-video resonate with how you actually use YouTube, or do you mostly want the summary before deciding whether to watch? Either answer helps.
Thanks for checking it out.

watchLess was hunted by Amir Yalamov. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
