I'm Pete - one of 4 makers of Waffle. Waffle is a social network just for you & your best friends.
Social Media is broken and mainly shows you entertainment & ads.
The current landscape is all about doomscrolling & finding yourself spending too much time looking at stuff you don't really care about.
Just so that you occasionally look at an ad or buy a product you didn't need.
I wanted to change that.
So I chatted to my friends Verena, Tosh & David and got to work.
As a team of 4 we shipped many products in the past couple of months & stumbled upon a social media trend called 'Wednesday Waffle'.
'Wednesday Waffle' is a group of friends sending each other updates every Wednesday.
I loved the idea, but I couldn't find any platform that allowed me & my friends to do just that.
There is simply no social network or messaging app free of distractions like news, businesses, ads or people dancing.
Is there?
So 4 weeks ago we decided to build our own. Let me introduce you to Waffle.
Waffle lets you share short & crispy voice notes with your closest friends. You can add a picture for context, and start a conversation with your besties.
Who would you share a waffle with?

But that said, I'm curious—do you think the world is ready for yet another social tool?
I really want to try this! Hope it comes out on Android soon. I miss nice and wholesome social media.
Congrats on the launch! A social network for close friends is such a refreshing concept. I love the idea of a non-toxic app—just shared it with my besties, as voice memos are how we communicate most. Looking forward to trying it out and sharing feedback!

hey, that's cool! i love these little social apps that are "heavily restricted" and don't use toxic mechanisms. just sent it to my besties (love the wording), as with three of them voice memos are the primary means of communication.
