I'm Oleksandr, software engineer based in Bavaria. I built Vokki for myself.
It started with walks. I used to listen to YouTube narrators who'd read a German sentence, then its translation. Walking through the park, German plus my language in my ears — and words just stuck. No drilling, no apps. But I couldn't replay the words I'd half-caught, or save them, or drill them later.
So I made the thing I wanted: bilingual stories where the voice reads and the words light up in sync. Then flashcards on top. Then a 128-lesson A1→B2 course. Then YouTube import — paste any video with subtitles and get a bilingual reader with audio.
