Thoughts is a Mac notes app with no folders or lists: drop ideas anywhere on an open canvas, split them across nine lockable Spaces, even pin them to your desktop. Live Markdown, kanban cards, optional private AI, iCloud sync.
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I’m Aleksei, and I built Thoughts.
Remember sticky notes on the fridge? Quick thoughts, a reminder, a phone number — you stuck them wherever you’d see them, and nobody asked you to pick a folder first.
My notes moved into apps that did exactly that: folders, lists, titles before I’d written a word. My ideas kept getting lost between “where does this go?” and “I’ll write it later.”
So I built the fridge for my Mac.
You drag anywhere to create a card and put it wherever it makes sense. Except your fridge never had this:
• Nine Spaces for work, home and projects — ⌥Tab shows them all at once
• Locks for any Space (passcode or Touch ID) and blur for single cards
• Live Markdown, color tags and kanban boards inside cards
• It can live right on your desktop, above the icons, so notes stay in sight
• Optional AI: on-device Apple Intelligence or your own key — nothing is sent unless you ask
• iCloud sync between your Macs
It’s a native Mac app (SwiftUI/AppKit), and I’m a solo maker. The latest update (1.4.2) adds kanban cards, the all-Spaces overview and a short animated tour for new users.
I’d love your honest feedback: what would make a notes app feel right for you? I’ll read and answer every comment.

Who hunted Thoughts?
Thoughts was hunted by alxeu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
