Every night for years, I made up bedtime stories for my daughter and son - I invented them out loud, on the spot, in the dark, with them right there listening and laughing and pulling the story in directions I never saw coming. Magic tunnels under our house that connected to the neighbours house, where their best friends lived. The kids would sneak next door through the basement tunnel, climb upstairs to the closet with a hidden door to a stairway to the roof and into hot air balloons to transport them anywhere they wanted to go, on whatever adventure they wanted to experience that night.
