Hey Product Hunt, I'm Artyom.
I've run my whole life through Things for a decade: my company, races, motorcycle trips, groceries. It's the calmest software I own. But Cultured Code ships major versions on a geological timescale (Things 1 in 2008, 2 in 2012, 3 in 2017, 4 someday), and it's 2026, my to-do app can't hear the AI agent that writes half my code, and it still has no boards, no time-blocking, no command palette.
So I stopped waiting and built the update from the outside. Two parts:
1. An MCP server so Claude, Codex, or any agent can read your lists, plan your day, and file your inbox.
2. A local dashboard (127.0.0.1 only) with the views Things never shipped: Kanban, an Eisenhower matrix, P1-P4 from your own tags, day time-blocking, a ⌘K palette, and git-repo links on projects.
The process really turned on one thing: the second an agent can touch your real task database, safety becomes the whole design. So reads open the Things SQLite strictly read-only, and every write goes only through the official things:/// URL scheme, the same mechanism Shortcuts uses. An agent physically can't corrupt your data, and the dashboard's boards and priorities live in a local overlay, never written into Things.
It's free, MIT, no cloud, no account. Requires Things 3 on macOS, and it's a companion, not a replacement (Things stays exactly as Cultured Code made it).

This is genuinely the Things 3 companion I've been hoping someone would build. The read-only safety guard is the right call, that was my main hesitation with letting agents near my tasks. One thing I'd love: a way to set up approval prompts before any write action fires, so I can review exactly what an agent is about to create or move before it hits Things. Even better if the prompt shows the diff inline.
Quite cool idea actually, and quite smart to keep reading read-only, writing thru Things own URL scheme. Kinda feels like there’s basically no way for an agent to mess up your database compared to most other tools. Good stuff!
Finally something that fixes my biggest Things 3 gripes without making me paranoid about AI messing up my data. The ⌘K palette alone is honestly worth it, been wanting that for years.
