Collect images and videos from anywhere, Snapwell uses AI to analyze every item automatically, so you can search by what you see instead of digging through folders. Choose your own AI provider (Claude, OpenAI, Gemini). All data stays on your devices and iCloud — no accounts, no servers, no tracking. Native Mac and iOS apps with iCloud sync. Open source.
I built Snapwell because I kept losing visual references across bookmarks, screenshots folders, and Pinterest boards. I wanted one place to dump everything — UI patterns, interior design ideas, video references — and find them later by describing what I remembered seeing.
The key insight was that AI can generate searchable descriptions automatically, so you never need to tag or organize manually. You just describe what you’re looking for: “minimalist login form with dark background” or “mid-century wooden shelf” and it finds the match.
A few things that make Snapwell different:
• BYOK (bring your own key) — pick Claude, OpenAI, or Gemini. No middleman, no markup.
• Fully local — your library lives in ~/Documents and iCloud. Zero backend.
• Open source — GPL-3.0, full transparency.
• Built as a native SwiftUI app for Mac and iOS.
Would love your feedback — especially on what kinds of collections you’d use it for!
