Hi Product Hunt! Solo founder here.
I built SMKlog after watching people at the post office get surprised by shipping prices. The core problem: to get a real quote you need the packed weight and box size — which you don't know until you've packed the thing.
So SMKlog works backwards: you describe the item ("vintage acoustic guitar with case", "car bumper", "iPhone 13 in original box") or paste a product link, and it estimates the packaging, packed weight, and dimensional weight, then shows live USPS/UPS/FedEx rates with one all-in price. It also flags battery/perfume/aerosol restrictions before checkout — USPS now charges a $50 fee for undeclared hazmat, and most casual shippers have no idea.
Everything works without an account. There's also a free Chrome extension that quotes shipping right from eBay/Craigslist/marketplace listing pages.
Would love feedback — especially from anyone who ships weird-sized stuff. What item should I stress-test it with?
Pasted in a random eBay order and got back weights and box dimensions that were close enough to what I actually boxed it in, plus live UPS and USPS rates side by side. Skipping the account requirement is a nice touch for one-off sellers.
love that you can just paste a link and it figures out the box dimensions from the product page. that's the kind of small detail that actually saves real time.
