It stays quiet until you click, reads only the product you are checking, and every recommendation is fact-checked before you see it.
I kept noticing that the tools meant to help you shop are usually built to move you toward a sale, not to tell you the truth. So I built the opposite.
Second Opinion puts one button on Amazon product pages. When you click it, you get a straight answer: is this actually worth buying, and if something clearly better exists, here it is with a reason. If the product in front of you is already a good choice, it says so and stays out of the way.
Two things I cared about most:
- It does nothing until you click. No popups, no background tracking, no reading pages you did not ask about.
- Every recommendation runs through a second pass that checks the facts before it reaches you, so you are not getting a confident guess.
It is free. When it links you to a recommended product it uses an Amazon Associate link, which is disclosed every time and costs you nothing extra. Feedback welcome, especially cases where you think the verdict got it wrong.
Honestly this is a super smart idea since Amazon reviews are basically chaos now. One thing though, could you add a way to save the products you check? Like a little history list, so if I look at a few options over a few days I can actually compare them side by side instead of having to click through everything again.
the fact-checked recs thing is honestly such a smart move, you basically don't have to second guess whether the suggestion is just affiliate fluff. love that it only activates when you click it too.
I like the idea of an AI "second opinion" before buying instead of simply recommending products. Curious whether you've found users value catching bad purchases more than discovering better alternatives they wouldn't have considered.
Tried it on a pair of headphones I was eyeing and it straight up told me the cheaper alternative was the better pick. Loved that it doesn't nudge you toward anything until you actually ask.
