Real origin story: I do a lot of directory submissions for SEO. Directories promise dofollow backlinks in exchange for badge placement, paid submissions, or account creation. Half the time when I actually checked the live page, the link was nofollow. Or buried in a JavaScript redirect. Or pointed to a tracker URL that 302'd through three hosts before reaching my site.
I needed a fast way to verify any page's outbound link quality without inspecting the DOM by hand on every submission. Existing SEO extensions check on-page meta and headings but skip link-level analysis entirely.
