Before Roiva I founded Ethos ESG, sold it to ACA Group, and stayed on as a partner there. During that time I watched AI change our business and our clients' businesses. Everyone was spending significant money on AI and almost no one could answer the obvious question: what did we actually get for it?
One of the biggest problems I saw was that ROI numbers fall apart under scrutiny. Value is estimated once in a business case and never checked again. Costs are spread across invoices, card spend and cloud bills. Decisions to scale or cut a project are made in a meeting and then lost.
