Recrutador
Simple ATS for SMBs with realtime interview assistance
Most ATS are built for big companies with HR teams. So small businesses interview off a googled question list and a spreadsheet, then decide on gut. Recrutador is made for them: it helps at every step of the hiring process, defining evaluation criteria, triaging resumes, and assists you live during the interview. No HR team. No subscription. No hassle.
Hey hunters, I'm Luiz, solo founder from Brazil, and engineer behind Recrutador (E ai galera, blz?).
I'm a software engineer, and I grew up in small business. Recrutador comes straight out of that overlap. One side of me builds software for a living; the other has watched, up close, how small companies actually hire.
And I've done it myself. I've run hiring for small teams, and I felt every part of it: no HR to lean on, no real process, just me, a candidate, and a gut feeling. The one who interviewed best, or even worse, the one that you "clicked" with, got the offer. Sometimes that was the right person. Too often it wasn't, and on a small team you feel a bad hire immediately. It's your money, your time, and a seat that still isn't filled. Then comes the part nobody admits: you start lying to yourself, just to avoid running the whole painful process again. "Let's give them a bit more time, maybe they'll grow into it". More often than not, they don't, and you've sunk even more time and money into a hire that was never going to work.
So I did what an engineer does with a problem that keeps hurting: I studied it. Turns out there's 80+ years of research on how to interview well, structured interviews, evidence over impression, and it works. It just never reached people like us, because doing it by hand is a mountain of work. That's the gap. So you might be thinking: do we really need another hiring tool? Sourcing is solved, ATSs are everywhere. Right, and that's the point. The ATS solved the logistics: posting roles, tracking applicants, moving cards. None of it ever touched the moment that actually decides the hire, the interview. I built Recrutador to do exactly that: it builds your evaluation criteria, screens the resumes, and sits with you live in the interview, telling you what to ask and where an answer is weak. It brings that 80-year-old science to small businesses and does the manual work for you. I solved my own hiring problem. Now I want to solve the same one for SMB owners everywhere.
Two lines I won't cross: it assists the interviewer, it never decides. And audio is never stored.
Who it's for: small businesses that hire now and then, no HR team, no room to get it wrong. (Recruiters and agencies can use it too, and its well supported)
I'm solo on the build, but not on the conviction. The first early adopters are coming on board now, teams who feel this exact pain and believe hiring should make people sharper, not replace them. I'd love your eyes on it too, especially if you hire, or if you've ever been on the wrong end of a decision that felt arbitrary.
Congrats on the launch @tessarolli building a real-time, low-latency audio analysis pipeline as a solo engineer is no easy feat. qq. what underlying STT (speech-to-text) and processing architecture are you using to maintain sub-second response times during live interviews without disrupting the conversational flow?
Love that it skips the monthly subscription trap and just charges per hire, that alone makes it feel like it's actually built for small teams instead of trying to squeeze them. The live interview assist sounds like a genuinely useful touch too.
Finally something an ATS that doesn't feel like it's designed for a Fortune 500 HR department. Loved that it nudged me to define evaluation criteria upfront instead of just throwing me into a pile of resumes.
Would love to see a feature that lets you share the evaluation criteria with the candidate beforehand so they know what to expect, plus a simple way to send a brief rejection note to those who didn't make it. Would save a lot of awkward silence on both sides.
Loved the "no subscription" angle since it removes that whole "is this worth the monthly fee" debate for someone hiring their first two employees. One thing I'd love to see: after each interview, a quick summary card I can share with my co-founder so we're comparing candidates on the same scores instead of trading vibes over Slack.
