I bought a new digital textbook (the Illustrated Guide to AI by Welch Labs) and wanted to start reading it on my laptop.
Unfortunately, the default Chrome/Safari PDF viewing experience is kind of terrible, especially for textbooks where reading in spread is often better, and you need to add notes/highlights as you go.
Many of the existing solutions had AI reading, 1000 pdf editing features, like 10 different pricing levels, sales pitches mid reading, AI gradients, minimum book uploads before you need to pay, auth, and so much damn clutter.
I don't want to rely on Kindle or an iPad. I don't want to download an app to my laptop. I don't want ChatGPT to read the book for me. I just want to read the book in spread, on my browser, no auth, and just highlight and take notes as I go. I might add databases eventually just for an added layer of maybe not losing all your work, but for now, all your data is local to the browser.
I'm very receptive to feedback.
