I built PrivacyCraft from a very simple personal frustration — using WhatsApp Web in public never really feels private. Whether you’re working from a cafe, office, classroom, or coworking space, it’s surprisingly easy for someone nearby to glance at your conversations.
I wanted a lightweight solution that felt simple, fast, and actually useful in everyday life.
PrivacyCraft adds instant privacy controls to WhatsApp Web by blurring chats, media previews, contact names, profile photos, and sidebar conversations. It also supports auto-blur when switching tabs for extra protection in shared environments.
One thing that mattered a lot while building this was keeping the experience clean and respectful of user privacy. The extension works locally in the browser and doesn’t collect or transmit personal data.
