I built plugai because I kept forgetting to add libraries I'd genuinely want in a new project logging, testing, HTTP clients until three weeks in when refactoring got painful.
plugai scans your project's tech stack (Node, Python, Go, Rust, Java, PHP, Ruby — whatever you've got), sends the stack + file structure to an LLM, and gets back ranked recommendations (Critical/Useful/Optional). The part I cared about most: it doesn't stop at the AI's opinion it pulls real GitHub star counts for every suggestion, so you can tell "this is a well-established library" from "the model just made this up." Then you pick what to install, right from the TUI.
Works with OpenAI, Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (Groq, Ollama, local proxies, etc.), so you're not locked into one provider.
It's early actively improving test coverage, error handling, and CI right now — so bug reports and feature requests are very welcome. Would love to hear what you'd want it to catch that it doesn't yet.
