I built PDFx Builder because every client project that needed a PDF ended the same way: either fighting Puppeteer and HTML-to-PDF hacks (broken pagination, tables split mid-row, 100MB Chromium blowing the serverless bundle limit), or hand-writing react-pdf and guessing at spacing.
PDFx Builder is the tool I wanted:
- Drag 24 composable components onto an A4 canvas
- Bind {{variables}} in any text field
- A live PDF preview next to the editor (runs in a web worker, no UI freeze)
- Export a clean .zip: typed TSX, sample data, types, and a README
The part I care about most: you export the actual react-pdf code and own it. It is plain TSX you commit to your repo and reuse anywhere. No vendor runtime, and your customers' data never leaves your app. AI can draft a first pass, but the value is the correct, controllable code you keep, not the draft.

Honestly the live preview is kind of a game changer compared to the usual pdf libraries I mess with. Big fan that the output is clean TSX you actually own.
Drag-and-drop canvas plus live PDF preview is a really nice combo, way less fiddly than fiddling with react-pdf TSX by hand. The ~2MB footprint and no data egress angle caught my eye too, feels like it was built by someone who actually shipped this.
