OpusBar is a free, open-source macOS menu bar app for Claude Code and Codex. A pixel cat shows your most urgent session, and a badge counts the ones waiting on you. It tracks 5-hour and weekly limits and what your tokens would cost. Nothing leaves your Mac.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Kushal, and I built OpusBar.
I run Claude Code in one terminal and Codex in another, usually across a few repos. The problem was never the agents. It was that one of them would sit on a permission prompt for twenty minutes while I worked somewhere else.
OpusBar puts a pixel cat in the menu bar that takes the state of your most urgent session: working, thinking, needs you, done, error. A badge counts the sessions waiting on you, and clicking the cat lists them with the one that needs you on top.
It also shows your 5-hour and weekly limits for every account, warns at 80% and 95%, and shows what your tokens would cost at API list prices.
How it works: it adds a small hook to Claude Code and Codex. The hook keeps a few fields (session id, event name, folder, tool name) and drops your prompts and code before they reach the app. No account, no telemetry.
It's free and Apache-2.0. The DMG isn't notarized yet, so the curl install is the smooth path. Not affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI.
I'd love to hear how you keep track of several agents at once, and what you'd want the cat to tell you next.
