What does OpenHuman feel like as a desktop app, specifically? Does it feel polished and intentional, like a native tool you’d keep open all day, or more like a very capable web app wearing a desktop costume and hoping nobody asks too many questions?
Once the honeymoon phase ends and I’ve used OpenHuman heavily for a week or two, what starts to stand out most? Where does it feel surprisingly strong, where does it still feel beta, and what kinds of rough edges should early users expect before they go all in on it?
What’s the first thing OpenHuman does that makes people go, “okay, that’s actually useful”? I’m less interested in the broad vision and more interested in the first concrete moment where it stops sounding like an AI dream and starts earning its keep.
f I’m not especially technical, is OpenHuman something I can install and start using without friction, or is this one of those products that says “simple setup” while quietly expecting me to be emotionally comfortable with logs, model settings, and weird edge cases?
When you say local-first and privacy-first, how true is that in practice? I want the non-hand-wavy version, because a lot of products say “private” until you read closely and realize your data is doing a world tour behind the scenes.
If I connect OpenHuman to Slack, Gmail, Telegram, Notion, GitHub, and whatever other chaos I’ve accumulated, what meaningfully changes for me? I’m trying to figure out whether this becomes a real operating layer for my work and communities, or just a prettier place to stare at the same information.
So what is OpenHuman really supposed to be for someone in real life? Not the slogan, not the launch blurb, but the actual role it plays once the novelty wears off and it’s sitting on my desktop next to all the other apps competing for attention.
What is the subscription price to use this? Is it open source or need to pay anything?
How did this not exist before?! Love the idea, want to give it a try even though I don't necessarily need an agent in my life.
Something I've seen that feels related: the concept of moving our personal data from the custody of vendors (social, doctors, marketers, employers etc) back to us - the owners. Eg a graph of all your data with granular sharing and privacy policies that you directly control. There's an obvious privacy aspect to this, but it's also natural to imagine how agents can thrive with (controlled) access to it, as an extension of the permanent memory you've built.
can it use my skills and maybe commands? Tool calls? Is it good for coding?

Finally an AI that doesnt forget everything after every chat. Sounds actually useful for normal people not just tech guys.
The privacy angle is a big reason to go local-first, but the persistent memory is what actually makes it usable day to day. I I am tired of re-explaining my tech stack and project goals every single time I open a new session.
Since you mentioned that it is in beta and remembers everything, I want to know how you handle context window limits or database bloat over time. Does it start getting sluggish once it knows too much about my work history, or is there some kind of automated cleanup?
