Notvex is a fully-local, zero-knowledge encrypted notes app for Windows, macOS, and Linux. No account, no server, no sync — just your notes, encrypted.
A local-first setup like this is exactly what I'd want for sensitive stuff, but adding optional client-side encrypted folder sync via something like Syncthing would be huge. Then the notes could follow you between machines without ever touching your server.
local-only encrypted notes with no account nonsense, exactly what i wanted. encryption is handled on device which feels way less sketchy than trusting some random cloud service. honestly the setup took like two minutes and im already dumping sensitive stuff into it
been using it for a few days and honestly the no-sync thing kind of won me over, feels good knowing my notes never leave my laptop. setup was like two clicks and i was in.
being able to export encrypted backups as a single file would be really useful, like in case you want to move notes to another machine without giving up the local-only approach. basically a portable vault you can restore later.
Love that the whole thing runs locally with no account or sync layer getting in the way. The "no server" stance is a real commitment, not just marketing copy, and it shows in how clean the setup feels.
