Check what a photo reveals before you share it. The free browser tools inspect or remove EXIF, GPS, camera, date, XMP, and IPTC fields locally, without uploading the file. The iPhone app adds Photos-first cleanup and supported video metadata removal, creates a clean copy, and leaves the original untouched. The web video checker only inspects basic properties; reliable video cleanup stays in the app.

A photo can reveal more than the picture itself: coordinates, camera details, capture dates, and software fields often travel with the file. I built Metadata Remover as a short review-clean-share flow. It shows the privacy risk first, then creates a clean copy locally. Originals are never edited, and the app also handles common metadata in supported video files. The current boundary is intentional: it removes metadata rather than editing dozens of professional EXIF fields. Which metadata category do you check most often before sharing: location, dates, camera details, or something else?

Who hunted Metadata Remover?

Metadata Remover was hunted by Vladimir Kamnev. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
