Open one Markdown file, or point Macaroni at a folder: it lists what changed since you last read it, even while it was closed, and shows the diff line by line against the version you last read, with no git involved. Made for reading what AI agents like Claude Code write. Mermaid, KaTeX and Quick Look included. Read-only, sandboxed, no account. $14.99 once on the Mac App Store.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Tony, and I make Macaroni at Noodle Dragon Studio in New Zealand. A lot of the Markdown I read now was written by something else: plans, specs and reports that Claude Code leaves in a project while I'm away from the terminal. A normal viewer renders the file. What I wanted to know was which files changed since I last looked, and what moved inside each one. So Macaroni does two things on top of being a plain viewer: - The Changed feed. Open a folder and the files written since you last read them wait at the top of the sidebar, newest first, with a dot. It remembers what you've read across quits, so changes made while it was closed are still there. - What Changed (Shift-Command-D). A line by line diff against the version you last read. Not against a commit, so no git involved. The outline beside it lists the sections the changes are in. It never writes to a Markdown file, so it can't fight an agent for one. It's sandboxed, there's no account and no telemetry, and the only thing it loads from the web is an image a document itself links to. It's $14.99 once on the Mac App Store. The App Store has no trials for one-time purchases, so if it doesn't fit, Apple handles refunds. I'd like to hear what you'd want it to do next.

Who hunted Macaroni?

Macaroni was hunted by Tony Hou. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
