Top comment

Hey Product Hunt 👋 Every launch site ranks by upvotes. Which means it ranks by audience. If you have no following, your project is invisible on the one day it mattered however good the work is. Lobstify orders its queue by what a project lacks: how little it has been shown, how new it is, whether anyone has answered it yet, and how long it has waited since its last turn. Vote counts appear nowhere in that calculation. You can still back a project it just doesn't buy placement. Two things I care about more than the ranking itself: It's checkable, not claimed. Every time a project is surfaced, it's logged. The /audit page recomputes the fairness index from that ledger 1 minus the Gini coefficient of exposures and replays the next 72 rotation windows so you can see nobody owns the top spot. The order rotates every 20 minutes. Feedback is the point. Every submission has to state what the maker actually wants answered, and it sits directly above the comment box. Answering someone else's open question breaks ties in your favour reciprocity, not reputation. Being honest about where it stands: it's new, and the queue is small. The demo projects you'll see are labelled demo because inventing a population would be a strange way to start a product whose whole argument is honesty. I'm a student who codes at night. I built this because I've launched five things now and watched the same pattern every time. What I'd love feedback on: does "ordered by under-exposure" actually feel fair when you're the one waiting or does it just feel random?

Who hunted Lobstify?

Lobstify was hunted by Geoffrey Giner. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
