Leaseswap
Get alerted when the perfect NYC apartment hits the market
StreetEasy shows you 12,000 NYC listings. None of them tell you what actually matters: is it rent-stabilized? Does it get real sunlight? How long is the train ride to my work? How far is the closest Trader Joe's? Is it priced below comps or above? Leaseswap reads every new listing on StreetEasy, LeaseBreak, and NYBits, then surfaces the answers. Describe your dream apartment - and we email you the second one appears. Free forever. $39 unlocks instant alerts for 4 months. No subscription.
Hey Product Hunt 👋 I'm Giulio, founder of Leaseswap.
Quick story on why this exists.
I moved to NYC in 2022. I lost 4 apartments in a row because by the time I called about a "new" StreetEasy listing, the broker had already shown it to 8 other people. The market is brutal — and the tools NYC renters use haven't meaningfully changed in 15 years.
But the bigger problem isn't speed. It's that none of the existing sites tell you what actually matters about a listing.
Is it rent-stabilized? (Stabilization can save you $2,000/month for 30 years. It's not a filter on any major site)
Does it actually get sunlight, or is "bright" a copywriting trick?
How long is the train ride to your office — not "5 min to the subway," but door-to-door to where you actually work?
How far is the closest Trader Joe's? Gym? Coffee shop you like?
Is the rent fair, or is the landlord testing the market?
So I built Leaseswap. We continuously read every new listing on StreetEasy, LeaseBreak, and NYBits, then enrich it: rent stabilization status (cross-referenced with DHCR data), real sunlight from photos, walk and transit times to anywhere you care about, and deal-vs-market pricing.
You describe your perfect apartment once — "rent-stabilized 1BR under $3k, sunny, 15-min train ride to Midtown, 10-min walk to a Trader Joe's" — and we email you within minutes of a match appearing. Faster than every other rental site we know of.
The map is the part I'm proudest of: every rent-stabilized apartment in NYC, every lease takeover, every real deal — on one screen. That data has never been in one place before.
The pricing is unusual on purpose:
→ Free forever, with a slight delay on alerts
→ $39 one-time for 4 months of instant alerts — the length of an average NYC hunt. No subscription.
You're hunting for a few weeks, not forever. The price should match the job.
~6,000 NYC renters using it today. If you're hunting in NYC — or know someone who is — give it a try at leaseswap.nyc. Even on the free tier you can browse the full map and see what's out there.
Happy to talk about NYC rental data, how we parse listing photos with LLMs, why DHCR data is a nightmare, going solo on a hyperlocal product, or anything else you're curious about. 🍕

Who hunted Leaseswap?
Leaseswap was hunted by Giulio Colleluori. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
