Hi everyone, maker here.
Laura is a synth plugin (VST3, AU, and standalone, Mac and Windows) that I built end-to-end as one person: DSP, UI, presets, installers, licensing, the site.
I'm an engineer first and a home studio producer second, and Laura started as a question I couldn't let go of: what does a Mandelbrot set sound like? The answer became the fractal oscillators, and they're still my favorite part. Wavetables, FM, and classic analog are in there too, but the other thing you won't find elsewhere is Mycelium, a reaction-diffusion field shared by all voices. Playing feeds the field, the field evolves on its own, and every voice reads modulation back out of it. Patches drift and breathe without you touching an LFO.
What changed along the way: I started with the DSP because that was the fun part, then learned that a finished instrument is mostly everything else. Loudness-matching all 283 presets so browsing doesn't hurt, click-free preset switching, MPE, code signing on two platforms, offline licensing. That half took longer than the synthesis did.
Pricing is simple: $69 (until August 11, then 149$) once, lifetime license, free updates (I try to push updates every Tuesday, been successful so far!), no subscription, no telemetry.

The fractal engine surprised me most—it turns simple waveforms into something alive and breathing. The wavetable editor is intuitive too, making it easy to craft custom sounds without getting lost.
The loudness-matched factory presets are a quietly thoughtful touch that sets this apart from most synth releases. Nice execution all around.
Honestly the wavetable editor alone is worth the price for me, super fun to draw your own shapes and hear them morph in real time. The galaxy sequencer keeps throwing up patterns I never would have programmed myself.
Honestly the fractal mode is wild, kind of produces these evolving textures I wasn't expecting from a synth this price. The loudness-matched presets are a nice touch too, makes auditioning way less tedious.
The wavetable editor being built in instead of bolted on is a really nice touch, makes sketching sounds feel fast. Also surprised how clean the mod matrix stays even with that many sources routed.
