Photograph an antique or a thrift find. Kist tells you what it is, its era and material, then gives an honest value range with a confidence score, never one fake precise number. Your collection is yours and exports to CSV or PDF. 5 free IDs, no card, no ads.
Hi Product Hunt.
I built Kist after reading a few hundred one star reviews of the antique identifier apps already on the App Store. Almost none of them complained about accuracy. They complained about the paywall: take a photo, wait for the result, and then get asked for a card before you are allowed to see it.
So the constraints came first and the features came second.
Five identifications free, no card. No ads, ever. Pro unlocks unlimited identifications and nothing else, so the collection, the CSV and PDF export and the widget are free whether you pay or not. Cancel is a visible link on the paywall itself.
On the value side: never a single number. Always a range, always a confidence meter, always the line saying it is an AI estimate and not a professional appraisal. Being honest about uncertainty is the harder product decision, and I think it is the right one.
Where it still falls short: heavily reproduced categories. Brass candlesticks, silver plate, anything where a 1970s reproduction photographs identically to the 1890s original. It hedges with a wide range, which is correct but unsatisfying.
Happy to answer anything about the model cascade behind it or why I skipped RevenueCat.
