iCar was born on a road trip. At every Supercharger stop, I found myself checking my car's stats on my phone — while sitting in front of a beautiful 15-inch screen showing a blank browser page. That felt backwards.
There are great Tesla apps for your phone. I wanted one that lives where you actually drive. So I built it: designed on the road, coded during charging stops (each one a 25-minute sprint), shipped from a hotel room. Thirty days from idea to the App Store.
The hard part was doing it honestly: no invented numbers. Charge costs come from real Tesla invoices, the charge-limit-by-location uses a boolean the car emits — no address ever leaves your vehicle — and trip recording is opt-in.
