I am Jon, founder of Cavefish, an emotional AI company based in Cardiff.
People form a first impression of your face in a fraction of a second, long before they read a word you have written. If you are job hunting, selling or raising, that split second is happening on your professional headshot every single day, and most of us have no idea what it is actually saying about us.
So we built Photo Score. Upload a headshot and it tells you how you come across on six traits: approachability, competence, trustworthiness, confidence, likeability and leadership. You get a score out of 100, specific tips, and, for a bit of fun, the public figure your headshot energy most resembles. It takes about ten seconds.
Two things we care about:
It is genuinely free, with no sign-up.
Your photo is analysed and then discarded immediately. We do not store it.
It runs on EchoDepth, our own emotion AI, and draws on peer-reviewed face-perception research. It is the consumer cousin of EchoPitch, our AI coach that scores how you come across when you speak.

Scanned in a recent photo and the breakdown felt spot on, especially on competence versus approachability where I'd been guessing blind. Quick, no fuss, and nice that the image doesn't hang around after.
love that the results break down across six different traits instead of just one vague score, that kind of specificity makes the feedback actually useful. and deleting the photo right after is a nice touch.
Scored mine and the competence vs approachability gap was eye-opening, the suggestions actually felt actionable rather than generic.
A score out of 100 is helpful but it would be even more useful to see a side by side comparison with a stronger version of the photo, like a slider showing lighting or background tweaks so you can actually visualize what changes would push the score higher.
The auto-delete promise is a genuinely thoughtful touch, especially for a tool that asks you to upload a headshot. clean execution and the trait breakdown gives you something useful to act on instead of just a number.
Score came back way lower than expected on the competence trait, but the tips actually pointed out a lighting issue I never noticed, so the feedback felt useful rather than generic.
