This is a new app taking the idea of racing your ghost in video games and applying it to real life fitness exercises like running, walking and cycling. The app gives you real time feedback against your chosen ghost on a chosen route and shows you a live delta as well as capturing your progress at 12 splits along the route, showing you per split timings and overall progress against your Ghost. Think olympic splits but on your watch against you, or your friends ghosts.

HI everyone! My name is Ady and I'm director of Ghost Trax LTD and creator of the Ghost Trax App! I'm 41 live in Cambridge Uk, a dad of 2 and fully certified AuDHD. I started my journey with Ghost Trax back in 2020 when I started running, I would run the same loop and try to beat my times, only knowing the outcome when I hit the finish line. I've always been a keen gamer and me and my son spent a lot of time trying to beat the nintendo ghosts on mariokart (thank you Nintendo!). So my brain put the two together and I thought "imagine if I could get real time feedback on my runs against my ghost". So I started to build Ghost Trax with an Arduino, a LED array and a gps chip, and didn't get far at all! It didn't take long before I realised I held/carried a gps enabled device in my pocket at all times and I quickly pivoted to trying to do this on iOS. I got the framework up but with no idea how to get beyond the basic screens. Cut to 2025, I dug the project up again and with the help of LLMs I was able to build out what I had dreamt up all those years back. I had to do a whole load of testing, validating gates etc, making sure my ghosts/routes associated properly, but in doing so I really grew to love the app. Each time I went out for. a run to test my app, I'd invitable end up racing my ghost and trying to beat it! Exactly what I was aiming for, and that dopamine hit is real :) Anyway.... cut to end of May 2026, I couldn't believe it, I'd started a LTD company, had my app released on the Apple Store and was up and running! would really love the support and guidance of this community, and I hope if you download the app you enjoy racing your ghost! n.b. I should mention that you ca also add friends and race their ghosts on the same loop, create leagues and I've got pacing coming on v1.8 after some more testing ;)

honestly this is a really fun idea, the splits comparison sounds genuinely motivating. one thing though, it would be great if you could set the ghost pace to something more specific than just a previous attempt, like letting me dial in a target pace per kilometer and have it generate a ghost based on that. basically a pace target mode for days when you just want to hit a number rather than race yourself.

Would love to see a small audio cue or vibration at each split point, like a subtle beep when you cross a marker so I can feel the delta without having to glance at the watch mid stride.

Love the Olympic splits idea for solo runs, that's such a cool way to keep pushing. One thing I'd love is the option to set a pace target halfway through if I'm falling behind my ghost, so the watch can buzz and tell me exactly how much I need to speed up per km to still catch it.

Raced my old 5k ghost on the wrist today and seeing the live delta tick up or down each split was way more motivating than I expected, the 12 split breakdown makes pushing through the middle miles actually fun.

The split-by-split breakdowns sound really motivating, especially seeing exactly where you lose or gain time. One feature that would make this even better is letting you overlay multiple ghosts on the same run so you can race against yourself from last week and a friend at the same time, rather than choosing just one.

Love the splits breakdown, that sounds super motivating on a long run. One thing I'd really love to see is a small audio cue at each of the 12 splits telling me whether I'm ahead or behind my ghost, so I don't have to keep glancing at my watch and break my rhythm.

The live split deltas on the watch are super motivating, way better than waiting to check the phone after the run. Already itching to race my own ghost from last week on the hill loop.

honestly this sounds really fun, kind of like having a workout buddy who never gets tired. one thing that might help though is letting users race against ghosts from people with similar fitness levels instead of just anyone, or maybe an option to adjust the ghost speed if you want a more realistic challenge

Love the ghost concept for real-world fitness. One thing I'd love to see is the ability to drop custom audio cues when your ghost is pulling ahead on a split, since glancing at the watch mid-sprint kills the flow. Could even let users record their own hype clips.

Would love to see a head-to-head mode where you can race a friend's ghost in real time instead of only solo, even a simple "challenge sent" link they open on their phone to sync up would make this way more social and replayable.
