Francés Fácil is a free web application that teaches French to Spanish speakers, using AI to deliver instruction in the learner's native language. The language-learning market is built primarily for English speakers. Courses are designed in English and then translated, which leaves the world's ~500 million Spanish speakers studying French through a second language. Francés Fácil was created to close that gap. Every explanation is presented in Spanish, and the curriculum is engineered around the specific strengths and challenges of Spanish speakers — leveraging shared Latin roots and grammatical structure, while directly addressing common difficulties such as nasal vowels, false cognates, and the ser / être distinction. Core features (available at no cost): • Complete A0–C1 course — 100 structured lessons across 25 units, aligned with the CEFR framework, with interactive exercises. • AI conversation tutor — practice realistic French dialogue and receive corrections explained in Spanish. • Unlimited AI-generated practice — produce fresh, level-appropriate exercises on any topic. • Spanish-contrastive grammar — 26 topics comparing French and Spanish directly, including false-friend guidance. This contrastive approach is not offered by the major platforms. • Verb conjugator — 226 verbs across 9 tenses. • Graded reading — French texts with comprehension scoring and spaced-repetition review. • Gamification — experience points, streaks, and achievements to support consistent practice. • Progressive Web App — installable on Android and iOS directly from the browser, with no app-store dependency. Business model: The full course is free permanently. AI features include generous daily limits on the free tier, and a Premium subscription ($4.99/month) removes those limits. There are no advertisements and no paywalled lessons. Technical overview: The application is built with ASP.NET Core 8 (Razor Pages) and PostgreSQL, deployed on DigitalOcean, with AI capabilities provided by Groq. It was designed, developed, and shipped as a solo project.
