Dweav Trace
Offline-first state tracing for JavaScript developers
Dweav Trace is a Chrome extension that helps JavaScript developers debug application state through a chronological timeline of snapshots, structural diffs, and labeled trace events — without analytics, telemetry, or external servers.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m excited to share Dweav Trace — a Chrome extension I built to make JavaScript state debugging clearer and less painful.
The problem I kept running into was simple:
"console.log()" works well at first, but once an app has multiple flows, user actions, API responses, UI states, and changing objects, the console becomes noisy fast.
Dweav Trace lets you send structured state snapshots into a browser side panel:
dweav(state, "Checkout updated");
From there, you can inspect a chronological timeline of state changes, compare snapshots, review structural diffs, and better understand what changed during a flow.
I built it around a few core principles:
✅ Offline-first
✅ No analytics
✅ No telemetry
✅ No external debugging server
✅ Local browser-side tracing
✅ Auto-redaction for sensitive-looking values
✅ Useful built-in developer utilities
It also includes tools like JSON formatting, JWT decoding, Base64 tools, SHA-256 hashing, UUID generation, URL tools, CRON translation, case conversion, and clipboard history.
Dweav Trace is especially useful for frontend developers, indie hackers, dashboard builders, web app developers, AI tool builders, crypto/web3 app builders, and anyone working with state-heavy browser apps.
I’d love feedback on the trace workflow, diff view, onboarding, and what framework integrations would be most useful next.
