Your AI agents write the specs, plans and docs. DotMD is a native Mac Markdown app where you review them like a pull request: comment on exact lines, the agent fixes them over MCP, and you accept every change. Also a fast reader and editor: Mermaid, math, code, version history, search, PDF export. Everything stays on your Mac. Free to read.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I write most of my specs, plans and docs with AI agents now: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor. Reviewing them was the painful part. In a chat you quote a paragraph, the agent rewrites half the file, and you can't tell what changed.
So I built DotMD: a native Markdown app for the Mac where reviewing an agent's document works like a pull request.
→ The agent sends you the file over MCP and waits.
→ You select a passage and comment on it, right in the document.
→ The agent reads your comments and fixes them.
→ Each fix shows up where your comment was, old text in red, new in green. Accept it or send it back.
It's also a fast reader and editor in its own right: Mermaid, math, code, tables, front matter, version history for every file, search across folders, PDF export.
Everything stays on your Mac. No account, no cloud. The MCP server listens on localhost only.
Reading is free. Pro (editing, reviews, MCP, history) has a 3-day free trial.
I'd love to hear how you review what your agents write, and what would make DotMD fit your workflow. I'll be here all day answering questions.
how much of the doc does the agent get when it picks up a line comment over mcp, just that section?

Who hunted DotMD?
DotMD was hunted by Alexander Storozhenko. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
