I'm the creator of DevShed, and I'm incredibly excited to share it with you all today.
If you've ever developed an app for iOS, macOS, or used multi-platform toolchains on a Mac, you've probably hit that dreaded wall: "Your disk is almost full."
For years, my daily workflow involved manually tracking down massive folders in ~/Library/Developer, deleting stale simulators, or running aggressive shell scripts that ended up breaking my Swift Package Manager caches—forcing me to waste time and bandwidth re-downloading dependencies on my next build.
I wanted a tool that was fast, visually intuitive, and above all, safe. That's why I built DevShed.
love that it lives right in the menu bar without demanding a full app window just to clear some caches. the cli option is a nice touch too, feels like the folks behind it actually use xcode daily and got tired of the bloat.
One thing that would make this a daily driver for me is a quick way to see exactly which folders will be nuked before I hit clean, ideally with a per-item size breakdown right in the menu bar popover. A dry-run toggle that shows "this DerivedData folder is 14GB, this Archives folder is 3GB" would give me the confidence to clear more aggressively without worrying about losing something important.
Would love to see a scheduled cleanup option so it runs in the background weekly without me having to remember. Also a quick dry-run mode showing exactly how much space each folder would free up before nuking anything would be really helpful.
Finally something that actually shows you what's eating space before nuking it. The menu bar view is clean and reclaiming 30GB felt almost too easy.
Finally an xcode cleanup tool that lives in the menu bar and actually works. Freed up 34GB on my macbook without touching anything i needed, the whitelist option is a nice touch.
