I wanted to test how far DeepSeek could go if the harness around it was designed for real development work instead of chat-window copy paste. The result is a macOS-native coding agent that lives in your terminal. It can read and edit files, run shell commands, keep project-scoped state, use MCP servers, launch sub-agents, and route multimodal references through Paean AI when DeepSeek needs help seeing a screenshot, PDF, or document. The Mac story matters. deeptide is built in Swift and optimized around macOS workflows. Paired with the open dsgo and ds4 Mac inference engines, it can connect to local DeepSeek V4 Flash on MacBook Pro, Mac Studio, or Mac mini where the hardware allows — giving you an offline path with stronger privacy and a very different cost structure.
