Daily Detective is a daily murder mystery game. Every day at midnight UTC, a brand-new case drops — complete with suspects, evidence, alibis, and contradictions. Interrogate suspects, examine clues, spot contradictions, and make your accusation — all within 10 moves. Every case is generated end-to-end and scored for fairness before it goes live, so each mystery is solvable and fair. Use code PRODUCT_HUNT for a free week of premium.
Hey Product Hunt! I'm the maker of Daily Detective.
I've been interested in murder mystery games and daily puzzle games (Wordle,
Connections, etc.) for a while. I wanted to combine the two — a murder mystery
you can play in 5 minutes during your morning coffee, with a new case every day.
The hardest part was making sure every mystery is actually fair and solvable.
Each case goes through a quality pipeline: generate, validate structure, check
solvability at each difficulty, then score fairness on a 1–10 scale. Cases
below the threshold get regenerated.
I'd love your feedback — especially on difficulty balance. Is easy too easy?
Is hard actually solvable? And what themes would you want to see?
Happy to answer any questions!
Love that every case gets scored for fairness before going live. That kind of quality control on generated content is exactly what most AI games skip, and it makes the 10-move format actually feel winnable instead of like guesswork.
Tried the midnight case last night and got completely stumped by the gardener's alibi. Love that every mystery is generated on the fly yet still feels logically airtight — the move limit really forces you to interrogate smart.
tried this last night and the 10-move limit really changes how you read the clues, super engaging. the auto-generated cases feel surprisingly coherent for procedural mysteries.
Love the idea of a fresh mystery every day with that 10 move constraint, sounds like a fun brain workout. One thing I'd really enjoy is a streak system or unlockable difficulty tiers, like once you solve 5 in a row you get a "hard mode" with extra suspects or trickier alibis. Would keep long term players engaged and add real reason to come back beyond just collecting cases.
The 10-move constraint is a really clever design choice, it forces you to actually interrogate instead of just brute-forcing every clue. Love that each case gets scored for fairness before going live too.
Tried it out and the 10-move constraint actually forces you to think carefully about what to ask, not just brute force every suspect. The generated cases feel coherent, which is honestly impressive for an automated mystery.
