CursorParty is a Chrome extension that reveals the invisible: everyone else reading the same Wikipedia article, documentation page, or blog post as you right now. Unlike Slack/Discord (heavy, invite-only) or Twitter/X (async, performative), CursorParty is ambient and lightweight — the internet as a shared space rather than a broadcast platform.

I kept having the same weird experience: landing on a niche Wikipedia page or HN thread and wondering "who else is here right now?" Millions of people share the same URLs daily, but the web is architecturally lonely — everyone sits in parallel isolation. CursorParty started as an experiment: what if we made the "others" visible without making it social media? No profiles, no followers, no persistence. Just presence, a quick "yeah this part is wild," and then you both move on.

This is neat! but I guess the idea only works if there’s high adoption, right? I can imagine a scenario where someone sees it on PH or HN and thinks, “oh, rad! let me try it out.” and then after a couple of days, they don’t see many cursors so they remove it. how are you thinking about this?
Given the product is anonymous and lightweight by design, what’s your plan for keeping the experience high-signal (spam/harassment, trolls, raids) without reintroducing heavy identity, accounts, or persistent moderation overhead?

Funny idea, but which people's cursors are showing there, those you've installed the plugin only I suppose?

Who hunted cursor party?

cursor party was hunted by Iggy Love. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
