Your kids earn screen time by cleaning, with Spray-kun as their cleaning coach. Responsible kids, a calmer house, and no more nagging. Also great for adults who doomscroll!
What inspired this?
My brother and his wife took me in after my last startup failed, and to earn my keep, I helped around the house and with their three kids. Getting them to clean was a daily battle, and they became total monsters on their devices. Hence, CleanMy: earn screen time by cleaning.
What problem are you solving?
Kids spend too much time on their devices, chores don't get done, and underneath it all sits the bigger parental worry: am I raising a kid who knows how to work? CleanMy locks the apps kids care about until the kid cleans. Snap a before-and-after, Spray-kun, our AI mascot, grades it, apps unlock.
How did it evolve?
I built the first version for my brother's kids. They hate me now, but maybe when they're adults, they'll appreciate me more.
The Spray-kun character actually got my 7 year old to wipe down the kitchen table without me asking, which honestly felt like a miracle. Wish I'd had this during remote work when I was doomscrolling through every evening.
Spray-kun actually got my 7-year-old to wipe down the kitchen counters without me asking twice. The screen time conversion feels surprisingly fair and the app itself is dead simple to set up.
Very cool to see CleanMy on Product Hunt today. Wishing the whole team a huge success! 🚀🚀
Spray-kun is such a cute way to get my daughter to actually pick up her toys without me repeating myself ten times. The screen time trade-off feels fair and it genuinely cut my doomscrolling in the evenings too.
Have you thought about letting siblings collaborate on chores together to earn shared bonus screen time? My two would probably argue less if they had a team mode, and it could teach them about splitting responsibility fairly.
Would love a weekly streak tracker or some kind of progress dashboard so kids can see how their screen time earnings trend over time. A little visual reward for consistent cleaning would probably motivate mine way more than just the minutes stacking up. Could even tie it to Spray-kun's reactions so the coach celebrates milestones.
Tried this with my 8 year old and the spray-kun mascot actually got her hyped to wipe down the kitchen counters. The screen time conversion feels a bit steep but it's nice having a system instead of constant negotiations.
love that Spray-kun actually teaches the steps instead of just being a mascot kids ignore, that's a really thoughtful UX choice. the whole concept of tying screen time to real chores feels like such a smart workaround for the usual battles at home.
the spray bottle progress meter is such a clever touch, turning an abstract chore into something kids can actually see fill up
A fun twist on chores for sure, love the playful angle with Spray-kun. One thing that would make it stick for our family is a simple leaderboard or streak tracker so the kids can see their progress and compete a little with each other. Right now I'm not sure if the app shows totals over time or just resets after each session. A visible history would also help us avoid the "did I already do that today" arguments.
