Hi Product Hunt,

My friend Boy and I built charton, an open-source chart library for trading apps. You give it bars, trades or an order book, it draws them.

Why: the chart library we used in our trading dashboards had an open-source version, but most of what we needed was missing from it. We got curious whether we could build something better from scratch.

charton uploads your data to the GPU once, so panning and zooming stay fast however long the history is. On a 2021 laptop: 0.05 ms of CPU per pan frame with a million candles loaded, and about 96 KiB gzip for a live chart with zero dependencies. Your device will differ; the landing page shows your own frame rate.

What's in it: 16 candle styles, heatmaps, volume profiles, footprint bars, indicators, drawing tools, linked charts, and wrappers for React, Vue and Svelte. Use the engine with your own UI, or add our toolbar and drawing rail.

It's pre-1.0, and you bring your own data. Apache-2.0, free for commercial use.

What would you need before using it in production?
