I want to share the real (and a bit personal) story of why I built "Calendar Maker."
By day, I work at a retail chain with about 100 stores. My job was to manage the monthly opening calendars for all 100 branches on our website. Every month, stores had different days off, and last-minute changes drove me absolutely crazy (I was literally screaming at my screen! 😂). So, I built a massive enterprise system using Google APIs to sync everything across spreadsheets and Google Maps in one click. Problem solved for big business.
But one evening, I was browsing Instagram to check the opening days of my favorite local Japanese Wagashi (traditional sweets) shop.
That’s when it hit me. These days, everyone looks up local shop hours on Instagram, not websites. And looking at that small sweets shop's calendar image, I realized something:
I am a web professional, so fighting with calendars is my job. But for local shop owners? Their real job is baking delicious sweets, greeting customers, and running their passion. Yet, they are forced to spend precious time every month struggling to create calendar images.
To be honest, I’m personally not very good at using Canva. It’s an amazing tool, but it feels a bit too heavy and complex when you just want to do one simple thing.
That is why I created "Calendar Maker."
I stripped away all the complex enterprise features and created the most minimal, lightweight tool possible. No sign-ups, no complex design layers. Just tap the dates, and download your Instagram-ready image in as little as 10 seconds.
It’s the first mini-tool under my project "Chocoto.app" (meaning "a little bit helpful apps" in Japanese). I want to help small business owners save their time so they can focus on what they love most.

Actually, I have a quick question for you brilliant minds here.
Right now, Calendar Maker handles color settings in a super lightweight way—users can just save them via URL parameters and bookmark it (completely stateless & no login needed!).
But for something bigger like calendar templates, the URL might get way too long and messy. On the other hand, relying on LocalStorage risks getting wiped out in 7 days by browser privacy rules (like Safari's ITP).
If you want to keep it "no login," how would you solve this dilemma? Share your clever web dev wisdom! 🧠💡
A "copy week" button would be super useful, since most small shops repeat the same hours week to week. Would love to set up one template and just duplicate it onto future months instead of tapping every date from scratch.
A real time-saver for posting quick schedule updates, the no-account setup is clutch. One thing that would make it even better is the ability to save preset templates for recurring schedules like monthly holiday hours so you don't have to redo the same setup each time.
