Hey Product Hunt! I built Boy and a Scanner because getting started with a police scanner is WAY harder than it should be. You buy a Uniden SDS100 and then spend hours on forums, 10 different websites, and dead Reddit threads trying to figure out what frequencies to program for your city. RadioReference exists but it's overwhelming and doesn't tell you what to actually do with the data. Boy and a Scanner fixes this: paste your ZIP code, get your local police/fire/EMS frequencies with exact step-by-step programming instructions for your scanner model. The AI cross-references RadioReference to filter out inactive channels. The Route Recon Trip Planner is my favorite feature - road trippers and truckers can map every trunked system along their route automatically. Currently 1,377+ locations indexed. Solo builder from a 43-foot fifth wheel. AMA!
