App Store search only rewards apps that already have downloads, and ads price out a solo developer. Bidstore is the other option: one public board where the dollar amount on your listing is your rank. $5 opens a listing, bids move in $1 steps, and your spot holds until someone pays more. No algorithm, no editorial picks. And a share of every bid goes straight back into bringing more people to the board.

Hey Product Hunt, I build iOS apps on the side, and the part that never works is distribution. App Store search rewards apps that already have downloads, so a new app stays invisible until it isn't new anymore. Ads want a few hundred dollars before they'll tell you anything useful. Bidstore is the blunt version of the fix. One public board. The dollar amount on your listing is your rank — no algorithm, no editorial picks, no engagement score. $5 opens a listing, bids move in $1 steps, and your spot holds until someone pays more. There is no expiry. Two things I made a point of: Listing data comes from Apple, not from you. Name, icon, rating and screenshots are pulled at bid time and refresh on every raise, so the board can't be won with better marketing copy. A share of every bid goes back into buying traffic for the board. Paying for rank on a page nobody visits is worthless, so the money coming in goes toward making the room bigger rather than just sitting there. The board is empty right now, which is the honest starting state for any leaderboard. The first $5 takes the top spot and holds it until someone outbids it. Happy to answer anything about the mechanics — especially the parts you think are gameable.

Who hunted Bidstore?

Bidstore was hunted by Faisal Ashfaq. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
