As a music producer, I always found traditional ear training effective but boring. Many musicians know ear training is important, yet struggle to stay consistent because existing solutions often rely on repetitive drills disconnected from real music.
I built this project to make ear training more engaging by using actual songs and interactive challenges. During development, the focus shifted from simply testing listening skills to creating a learning experience that keeps users motivated to practice consistently.
Loading up one of my favorite tracks and actually identifying intervals within it feels way more useful than the usual boring drills. The beginner levels are gentle enough to not scare anyone off either.
finally something that makes ear training actually stick, plugging in a song i already know made the intervals way easier to internalize than any textbook example. wish i'd had this in college
The real-song approach is such a smart angle, way more motivating than dry interval drills. One thing that would take it further for me would be a loop and slow-down feature built right into the training mode, so you could isolate tricky passages and practice identifying intervals or chords at half speed without leaving the app.
One thing I'd love to see is a community feature where users can share custom ear-training challenges built from specific songs, so we can learn tricky intervals or progressions from tracks others have found useful rather than only working from a preset library.
Love that you train with real songs instead of synthetic piano clips, that choice alone makes ear training feel like something I'd actually keep doing. The difficulty levels seem thoughtfully scoped too.
