Backshelf is a video game wishlist and collection tracker. See prices, critic scores, and trailers for every game, and plan your wishlist by month or priority.
I'm Chad, and I built Backshelf to free myself from the complex spreadsheet I was using to track my wishlist and game collection. The spreadsheet itself was fine. The annoying part was everything around it. Adding one game meant opening a price guide to see what it goes for on the platform I actually wanted, a review site to check whether it's any good, and YouTube for a trailer. Then I'd type four things into a row by hand, and six months later the price was wrong anyway. I tried other apps, but none of them had all the pieces in one place.
So Backshelf puts all of that on one record. Add a game and it comes with the current price for that exact platform and edition, critic and user scores, roughly how long it takes to finish, cover art, screenshots and a trailer. But the most important thing as I built it was making it fun to use. I wanted a tool I enjoyed using. And I think I did it. I'm already spending hours just browsing, finding new games and watching trailers. I hope you find it fun too.
It's free with a 20-game wishlist, and there's a demo with no signup if you just want to test it out.
What I'd really like is to hear what's missing. I built this around how I collect, and I know that's one person's habits. If you track your collection in a way this doesn't handle, tell me and I'll work on it.
