New since our first launch: drop a folder and every image and video gets a name you'd actually search for, in your naming convention – Web, Social, Product, Documentation, AI, or your own built from blocks like date, product and content. Keep files in collections, one per client: Archivist suggests the right one, and collections can fill themselves. Share a collection as one clean link. Try 5 files free, no signup. Mac app coming soon.
Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Conny, a designer from Austria. Archivist first launched here in January – thanks to everyone who tried it. Since then I rebuilt almost everything.
Drop a folder and every file gets a name you'd search for. Build your own naming convention from blocks (date, product, content, source…) and see an example name as you go. Keep files in collections, one per client or project – Archivist suggests the right one, and a collection can fill itself with every matching file. Hand them over as a ZIP or a single link that's ready for the CMS. Everything has undo.
Try 5 of your own files without an account; 50 free renames a month after that.
I'd love to know: what naming convention does your team use? And what should the Mac app do first?
For video files, does it look at the whole clip or just the first frame when it picks a name?

Who hunted Archivist?
Archivist was hunted by Cornelia Süß. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
