Vakeel Saathi
The Digital Munshi for India's 2M advocates
VakeelSaathi replaces the human munshi (legal clerk) for Indian advocates. Auto-syncs eCourts hearings, drafts BNS/BNSS-compliant petitions with AI, tracks outcomes, and runs your practice from WhatsApp, for less than one clerk's monthly salary.
Hey Product Hunt 👋, I'm Joginder, founder of Decipher Consultancy Services. We build vertical SaaS for regulated Indian markets.
Most Indian lawyers hire a munshi, a clerk who tracks court dates, drafts petitions, follows up with clients, and files paperwork by hand.
A munshi costs each lawyer ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 per month and usually leaves the job every 18 months. With 2 million advocates in India, this creates a manual labour market worth about $5 billion per year.
Current legal tech in India falls into two groups:
(a) US tools like Clio and Casetext that do not work well with Indian court systems,or
(b) Local tools that only manage basic case lists.
No one was replacing the munshi role. I built VakeelSaathi to do this.
-------------------------
What it does today
-----------------------
Court intelligence
• Auto-syncs hearings from eCourts (India's judicial portal) so lawyers never miss a date
• Daily cause-list monitor with change alerts
• Hearing-outcome tracking with cause-effect timeline
• Opponent intelligence: shared cache of every advocate you'll face
• Judicial style profiles: crowdsourced patterns per judge (how they write orders, what arguments land)
AI grounded in law
• Petition/notice/contract drafting grounded in current statute (BNS/BNSS/BSA/DPDP Rules 2025)
• Indian Kanoon RAG pipeline — cites real judgments, not fake ones
• 200+ court-ready templates (affidavits, family law, property deeds, criminal complaints, civil suits, writ petitions, tribunal apps)
• FIR analysis: paste an FIR, get section-wise weaknesses
• OCR for court docs including regional-language scans
Marketplaces: digital munshi layer
• Briefs Exchange: 1-click hire a local advocate for an appearance in any court in India
• Digital Munshi Marketplace: hyperlocal task board (filings, certified copies, court runs)
• Ask-a-Senior: paid Q&A with senior counsel
• Expert witness + verified advocate directories
WhatsApp-based practice management
• Self-hosted Evolution API, no Meta approval bottleneck
• Command surface: "next date Sharma vs State" → instant reply
• Client updates, hearing reminders, invoice nudges all via WhatsApp
(because nobody in India opens a web app)
Full practice management
• Kanban task board with drag-and-drop
• Client portal with document sharing + e-sign (with audit trail)
• Trust accounting (client-fund segregation per BCI norms)
• Split billing, Zoho Invoice sync, GST-compliant invoicing
• Tax helper: GST RCM, 194J TDS, 44ADA presumptive
• Daily diary email, document version history, Excel exports
Free public tools (no login required)
• Bare Acts library
• Limitation-period calculator, court-fee calculator, stamp-duty calculator, IPC↔BNS section mapper
• 89-term legal glossary + comparison pages
Pricing is ₹799, ₹1,999, or ₹4,999 per month. Each plan costs less than hiring a clerk, which is a familiar comparison for buyers.
I welcome feedback from anyone building:
• Vertical SaaS for a regulated market
• AI grounding pipelines (RAG for domains where hallucination = lawsuit)
• Solo-founder monoliths that need to look like a platform
If you are interested in regulated-market SaaS, dCOMPLY, our compliance automation tool for Indian businesses, will launch in a few weeks.
