Hi Product Hunt! I'm John, the solo developer behind Unicom. When Unicom first launched here, it did one job: put the CTAF and runway info for any US airport on your phone, even with no signal on the ramp. That's still the core, and it stays free with no ads and no account. 1.1 is the biggest update since then: • NOTAMs for every airport. They're pulled from the FAA NOTAM system, decoded into plain language with the original text one tap away, and saved so the last list you looked at is still there offline. • A Weather Map that draws flight-category METARs over FAA sectional charts. Tap an airport to swipe through its frequencies, and map areas you've viewed stay available offline. • A TAF slider that shows forecast conditions up to 12 hours out. • Flight-category colors that work for color-blind pilots. • Weather for airports that have no ICAO code, and saved airports that follow FAA identifier changes. Since the first launch I've also added two optional paid tiers so the app can pay for itself: Unicom Pro, a one-time unlock that includes the Weather Map, and Unicom IFR, a subscription for terminal procedure plates. Frequencies, runways, weather and chart supplements will never sit behind either one. It's Android only for now, because good aviation apps on Android are hard to find and that's the gap I wanted to fill. I'd love feedback, especially from anyone who flies out of small untowered fields.
