Hi Product Hunt! I made Umbra because I wanted a calmer Gmail. It redraws Gmail so it’s quiet and easy to read: new mail can arrive a few times a day, newsletters fold into one page, and ⌘K does almost anything. Gmail is still underneath, so your account works as it always has. It’s free and open source, AI is off unless you turn it on, and nothing is sent to me. I’d love to hear what you think.

Who hunted Umbra Mail?
Umbra Mail was hunted by Mason Chen. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
