Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I built Things In Places to solve a very real problem: I kept forgetting where I put things — tools, documents, spare parts, stuff in storage boxes. Spreadsheets were too slow, notes apps too flat. How it works: you create Places (rooms, shelves, boxes — any hierarchy), then add Things to them. Each thing gets a name, description, photo, and a full move history. The Magic part 🪄 — you don't even need to take a photo. Just type the name of an item and the app instantly generates a unique AI sketch illustration for it. A wrench looks like a wrench. A passport looks like a passport. It makes the list scannable and beautiful even before you add real photos. I call it lazy onboarding — zero friction to get started. Other things I'm proud of: 🔗 Shared access — give a partner a link with view or edit rights (great for families or repair crews) 📋 Pick-list — build a temporary checklist and share it as a permanent public page (perfect for forums, moving checklists, trip packing lists) 📥 Full PDF export — offline backup of everything Works as a PWA — installable, works offline, no App Store Would love your feedback on what to build next!
