TaskGate

Stop mindless scrolling with mini-tasks

TaskGate prevents impulsive app opens by requiring you to complete a quick task first. Break the cycle of mindless scrolling with breathing exercises, reflections, flashcards, or partner app challenges.

Top comment

Hi Product Hunt! I am building TaskGate because I was tired of opening Instagram or TikTok on autopilot, scrolling for 20 minutes, and forgetting why I picked up my phone in the first place. TaskGate is an app blocker that does not permanently block apps. Instead, it adds a small speed bump: when you try to open a gated app, you complete a 10-30 second mini-task first (breathing exercise, reflection, flashcard, journal prompt, or a partner app challenge). By the time you finish, the impulse has usually passed, and you can choose to proceed with intention or close the app.
