Sumhouse
Personal finance for Mac that never asks for your bank login
A Mac app for keeping track of your money using the statements your bank already lets you download (PDF, CSV or OFX). Your data stays in an encrypted database on your Mac. You never make an account, and you pay once instead of every year.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm the maker of Sumhouse.
When Mint shut down I went looking for a replacement, and every option I found wanted my bank login and a yearly fee. I just wanted to see where my money was going, and my bank already gives me that in the statements I can download. So I built Sumhouse around those files. You import a PDF, CSV or OFX statement and it sorts everything with rules you control. It links up card payments and transfers so they aren't double counted. It also finds your subscriptions and keeps track of budgets and net worth.
Your transactions never leave your Mac. They're kept in an encrypted database, there's no account to sign up for, and the app doesn't collect usage data. The only connections it makes are the license check and an update check when you ask for one. You can export everything to JSON whenever you want. And if you're coming from Mint, YNAB, Monarch or Copilot, it reads their CSV exports and keeps your categories.
It isn't for everyone. It's Mac only, with no phone app. And it won't sync with your bank, which is kind of the whole point. Once a month I download my statements and drop them in, and that takes a few minutes.
The first 100 licenses are $34.99, one time, and the 14-day trial doesn't need a card. I'd love feedback, especially if a statement from your bank doesn't import cleanly.
